An overly cluttered registry can cause your computer run slow, and cause certain programs not to function in the correct manner. Cleaning the registry offers many benefits. The registry is the foundation of the Windows operating system, and any changes to the keys or values it contains can be disastrous if not done in the correct way.
If you’re an advanced user, cleaning the registry manually is okay. As long as you know which registry keys and values are important to system function and which are disposable, you can edit the registry without fear of disrupting your operating system. Even for informed computer users, however, creating a registry backup and/or System Restore point is highly recommended in case of an accidental deletion or alteration.
Manually cleaning the registry is not recommended for beginners. It is a very complicated and tedious task, and unless you are very well informed, you can cause irreparable damage to your hard drive. If you want to make your computer a faster computer and have determined that your registry is at the root of your problems, you would be better off to use a registry cleaning tool. There are registry tools available for download that claim to be free. These are not a good idea, for various reasons. First of all, free registry cleaner or antivirus programs can be malware in disguise. They are most vicious of viruses as, under the guise of helpful software, they penetrate to the deepest levels of your operating system, compromising its security. They are also the hardest to remove.
It is best to go with a registry cleaning program that you pay for, whether it be a one-time fee or a monthly fee. The benefits of this are many. First of all, when paying for a service you eliminate the chance to be infected with malware. Also, if you run into any issues while using the software, technical support is usually available to help you work through them. Paid registry cleaning software has more features, and completes a thorough cleaning of the registry. Most paid registry cleaning programs also have a scheduling tool that allows you to have your registry cleaned automatically on the days and times and at the intervals that you choose.
Whether you’re cleaning the registry manually or using a registry cleaning software, always backup your registry first! Paid registry cleaners will come with a built-in tool for backing up the registry. If you’re doing it manually, you can always create a System Restore point, or backup your personal files and folders onto discs in case you have to completely reformat your computer.

[...] Manual registry cleaning is only recommended for advanced users, due to the complexity and sensitivity of the registry. If even one value is inadvertently removed or altered, it can cause a complete crash. The registry can be very confusing for first time viewers, so I would recommend that you find a good registry cleaning software. Hi everyone,
Thank for your comments, I think this post is one of the most important posts on this site. A lot of people addressed me with problems that occurred to them after trying to modify registry entries manually.
If you don’t know your way in the Regedit, please don’t change it manually. Use a registry cleaner.
