How To Fix The Spoolsv.exe Error – Solution

- Click Start
- Click Run
- Type “services.msc” – depending on your version of windows you might also have to give your permission for the program to run
- Search through the list of services looking for the “Spooler” service
- Right click on the service and then click on Stop
- Navigate to c:\windows\system32\spool\printers\
- Delete all of the .SHD and .SPL files which are found in this folder
- Go back to the services console and restart the spooler service
You can also choose to do a system restore to fix the Spoolsv.exe Error if you are having trouble removing the files manually. This will roll your computer back to a time when everything worked properly. System restore is very easy and fairly safe to do:
- Click Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools
- Run System Restore
- Click to restore your computer to an earlier time
- Choose when you want to roll your computer back to
- Follow the instructions on the screen to roll your computer back to a past time and fix the Spoolsv.exe error
If the Spoolsv.exe error is caused by a computer virus then you will need to get yourself a good quality virus scanner and anti spyware software. Make sure that these are updated with the latest virus and spyware definitions so that they can detect every single threat.

I used a registry cleaner and it fixed the problem.
My printer worked just fine until yesterday, now every time I want to print something, I get the spoolsv.exe error, I tried windows update but it didn’t work, I downloaded a registry scanner and it found lots of problems, but I don’t know if I should buy it, if it will solve this problem.
My printer stopped printing and I get this spoolsv.exe error popping up all the time. What could cause it? The printer is new from the box but doesn’t work.
removed the shd and spl files (only one of each were in dir) and restarted the service manually. Now works – many thanks. Not entirely sure what has been going on, i spent half of yesterday figuring if it was malware. Let’s hope it satys fixed!
